About the Journal

Initially established in 1994 as the newsletter of the German-Chinese Jurists‘ Association (DCJV), the Zeitschrift für Chinesisches Recht/German Journal of Chinese Law (ZChinR/GJCL) has carried its current name since 2004. Beginning with the 2025 volume, the Journal is being published open access and thereby gives readers as well as authors from around the world cost-free access to a specialized forum promoting academic exchange in the Journal’s areas of inquiry.

The ZChinR/GJCL deals with contemporary legal issues and modern legal history in China from both a practical and an academic perspective. Particular attention is paid to legal aspects in respect of the country's economic development as well its international relations.
