About the Journal

Concept

The quarterly appearing German Journal of Chinese Law (ZChinR/GJCL) first originated in 1994. The publication has carried its current name since 2004. The ZChinR/GJCL is the only ongoing German-language publication addressing Chinese law. The journal publishes detailed reports and analyses in the section titled “Aufsätze” (Articles). Current legal developments are reported in “Kurze Beiträge” (Notes). In the section “Dokumentationen” (Documentation) one finds translations of the most important new Chinese laws. Additionally, the journal regularly publishes conference reports and reviews of books on Chinese law.

Publication

The ZChinR/GJCL is published by the German-Chinese Jurists’ Association (DCJV) in cooperation with the Sino-German Institute for Legal Studies of the Universities of Göttingen and Nanjing and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg under the editorship of the German Vice-Director of the Sino-German Institute for Legal Studies in Nanjing, Prof. Dr. Knut B. Pißler (Max Planck Institute Hamburg). An advisory board comprising Prof. Dr. Björn Ahl (University of Cologne), Prof. Dr. Yuanshi Bu (Universität Freiburg), and Prof. Dr. (NTU) Georg Gesk (Universität Osnabrück) assists the editorship in the preparation of the journal.
