The New Export Control Law of the People’s Republic of China – An Overview

This paper describes the main provisions of the new Chinese Export Control Law (ECL), which came into force on 1 December 2020 after a legislative process lasting more than three years. Previously, the author reported in detail in this journal on the first draft of 16 June 2017, drawing a comparison with the corresponding provisions in the foreign trade law of the USA, the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany.
