The German Journal of Chinese Law (GJCL) [Zeitschrift für Chinesisches Recht (ZChinR)] can look back on a long history, this year publishing its 32nd volume. Since 1994 (when it was still called "Newsletter der Deutsch-Chinesischen Juristenvereinigung e. V."), it has aimed to analyse for its readers the theoretical and practical development of modern Chinese law. Its focus is on civil, commercial, and public law and in particular (though not exclusively) legal topics that are relevant to foreign companies, academics, and interested parties. In addition to academic articles, conference reports, and reviews of new publications, the translations of key Chinese legislative acts and legal materials are an important source of information for its readers.
